Also known as Master Cleanse and Lemonade Diet
The GI or Glycemic Index is the measurement in which carbohydrates affect blood sugar levels, or the speed in which glucose is released into the bloodstream. The faster carbohydrates are broken down, during digestion; the higher the Glycemic Index. The slower carbohydrates are broken down, during digestion, the lower the Glycemic Index. The lower the Glycemic Index, the better for Type 2 Diabetics. Here is the Glycemic Index of known sweeteners as compared to Agave Syrup:
Maltose = 100
Table Sugar = 64
Honey = 62
Maple Syrup = 54
Agave Syrup = 27
Agave Syrup comes from the Agave plant, a plan similar to the cactus, and is native to Mexico. Agave Syrup is the best sweeter to be used by Type 2 Diabetics, due to its GI of a mere 27, which is by far lower than any of the sweeteners normally used in the market today.
