The Lemonade Diet


Okay, you’ve started the ‘cayenne pepper diet‘ aka ‘the lemonade diet’. You’ve got into it a few days and you feel like complete **** … shaking, tired, suffering from headaches and just generally miserable. Perhaps you are thinking of quitting but are worried about gaining back the weight you have lost. It’s difficult to cope.

The difficult truth is that many people don’t last on this diet because they didn’t start out with a good plan. The number one thing you need to have in place is a clear understanding of why you want to do this, a powerful vision of you attaining your goal, plus some solid support from your friends and family.

Remember, the lemonade diet is not really a ‘diet’ … it’s a cleanse. That said here are some warnings & helpful tips.

You should read the Master Cleanse Secrets book. If you have special needs, diabetic or hypo/hyperglycemic issues, then you want to be fully informed. Consult your doctor with your plans.

1. Salt water flushes mobilizes toxins and encourages elimination. Do you get what I mean? Stay NEAR a bathroom for an hour or so afterwards until you are quite finished. If you don’t, you will regret it
2. If you feel the need to flatulate after having drank the laxative tea (Smooth Move) or salt water flush, DON’T. It’s not gas
3. The tea works very well. Be near a bathroom in the morning. If you drink it in the morning, be prepared to be near a bathroom
4. Use only the best Organic Grade B Maple Syrup you can find. I shop for mine at a local organic whole foods store
5. Buy a lemon/citrus juicer. Conventional thinking is that you can juice 2 or 3 lemons for the juice you will need. It’s more like 10 and you will get tired. A few bucks spent will save you much effort. Drink the pulp!
6. Fresh lemonade tastes best
7. Pre-measure your lemonade. You WILL start drinking more of it and you WILL start to crave it
8. Consider starting a blog to journal your experience. This can be therapeutic
9. Take before and after photos, and remember to weigh yourself. You may not like to do that, however if you want to make meaningful change in your life, you MUST be prepared to observe whether it’s working or not
10. You *may* develop a cold
11. EASE OFF THE CLEASE! Digging into the fried chicken will sicken you
12. A lot of weight loss will be water, which will return. Don’t be upset about this. Try to avoid salt which can lead to water retention
13. BEFORE you start the cleanse, have a plan for healthy eating afterwards. You have a fresh start … use it.
14. This is not a diet, but an accelerated program to quickly lose some weight and detoxify.

Beyonce’s Maple Syrup Diet


Beyonce Concert Barcelona 2007The former Destiny’s Child singer is well known for her bootylicious body but would you expect her to use a diet like the Maple Syrup Diet?

Beyonce appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show to talk about her role as Deena Jones, a slender backup singer based on Diana Ross. She plays a character with a wide age range and she told Oprah her secret was the Master Cleanser fast – a liquid diet – also known as the Lemonade Fast, Cayenne Pepper Diet, and Maple Syrup Diet.

“Normally they’d change your make-up or your clothes but I wanted to go the extra mile,” Beyonce is quoted as telling China Daily. “Back in the sixties, models like Twiggy were popular and I knew Deena would have been thin then, so even though I really love eating, it was necessary to lose weight really fast because we shot Deena at 16 and Deena at 36 two weeks apart.”

This 60 year old diet regime is simple, effective but challenging. Be warned: the diet mobilizes and eliminates toxins from the body. That would be diarrhea to you and me.

Here it is:

In a clean gallon jug, pour:

3 quarts of water
1 cup of organic freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 cup of pure maple syrup (grade B, organic if you can get it)
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (try using liquid cayenne)

Mix well and drink 8-12 glass per day.

To enhance the flush, consider the following tips:

Buy an herbal laxative tea that contains senna. Drink this every night.
Buy non-iodized sea Salt. Every morning, before the lemonade, mix two teaspoons with a quart of water and drink. You can add lemon juice to taste. Also, using a straw helps to get it down. Be near a bathroom – this is important!

After the cleanse, 3 – 10 days depending on your desire, do not begin eating a rich diet again. In fact, while you are cleansing the very best thing you can do is commit to a healthy eating plan for when you come off the fast. Start fresh, cleansed and free of toxins. Your body will be clean and strong. To ease out of the fast, do the following:

On day one after the fast, drink unsweetened fruit juice.
On day two eat a soup that is mostly broth.
On the third day, start eating light foods. Do not start eating high fat foods!

Lemon Juice Detox


CocktailThinking of trying the lemon juice detox? Lemons have been used for many years in detoxification, and the lemon juice detox, uses lemons too. Note: the lemon juice detox is different from the lemon detox diet, as it uses just hot water and the juice of fresh lemons. You are also not expected to fast while detoxing, which many people find is achievable for their first experience in detoxing.

The recipe is quite simple and easy for the detox … just one cup of hot water, the juice of an organic lemon (important!) and one or two teaspoons of sugar to taste.

Use hot water for the full effect, and preferably drink this once in the morning at the start of the day. For the rest of the day, drink plenty of fresh, filtered water.

Why lemon juice? It aids your liver in flushing out toxins which have been absorbed into your body. The detox process should be done daily, each morning, on a continues basis.

This is an easy detoxification and that is it’s virtue. You need just three ingredients to make it, you can do it in minutes, and it can replace your morning beverage of coffee or tea. Replacing your caffeine beverage with the lemon juice detox is the sacrifice you will have to make while detoxing. If missing your beverage worries you, try adding high energy foods to your daily diet to replace the ‘lift’ you experience from your coffee or tea.

This detox can also help many people lose weight, as part of a diet focused on wellness.

If the lemon juice detox, or cayenne pepper diet, seems too extreme for you, try this lemon juice alternative. You probably have everything you need in your kitchen already.

The Lemonade Detox Diet

The Lemonade Detox Diet requires fresh lemon juice and not store-bought or juice from concentrate. Use only organic lemons to make your own juice for the cleanse.

You can find organic lemons at quality supermarkets or at your green grocer. Consider buying a quality juicer or an attachment for your KitchenAid mixer, if you have one. Depending upon the size of the lemon, you can get 1/4 cup of juice from a good lemon.

The Lemonade Fast


The Lemonade Fast, adapted from Stanley Burrough’s Master Cleanser Recipe, is quite simple and will leave you with a decent level of energy while your liver and blood stream is being cleansed of toxins. Also known as the cayenne pepper diet or lemonade diet.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Lime Juice
  • Maple Syrups Organic
  • Lemons
  • Lemon juice
  • Cayenne Pepper
  1. Step 1

    Mix together 2 tbsp of lemon juice, 2 tbsp of organic maple syrup and cayenne pepper to taste, per 1 cup of pure filtered water.

  2. Step 2

    You must drink a minimum of six cups of the lemonade during the cleanse. The goal is to cleanse for 10 days, eating no solid foods. You may drink herbal laxative teas and as much water as you want.

  3. Step 3

    Keep your bowels moving with laxative teas in the morning and evening to help your body eliminate the toxins accumulating in your colon as the lemonade cleans your entire system. Taking enemas on the last few days is also highly recommended for clearing out your colon.

  4. Step 4

    Complete the fast by beginning to drink orange juice for two days. This will help your body prepare for the return of solid foods. On the third day, drink orange juice for breakfast, consume some fruit for lunch, then eat fruits and salad for dinner. The next day, resume healthy eating.
