There are a lot of reasons not to include red meats in a detoxifying diet. These reasons range from a chance of binding up elimination (constipation) to chances of colon cancer.
Much more energy is required to digest and assimilate meat than other foods. Meat is known as a “supressing food”; a person who eats meat heavily may have very limited elimination.

It can also promote putrefying and unfriendly bacteria formed due to the alkalinity in the gut. When meat proteins reach the colon in an undigested form, they will putrefy, the result is a release of toxins into the colon. Reserach has indicated that meat protein causes putrefaction twice as fast as vegetable protein. This is counter-productive when observing a detoxifying diet.
Fruits and vegetables have protective properties against cancer; people who eat a lot of meat often don’t consume enough fruit and vegetables, which results in those protective properties being underdeveloped. Eating too much meat causes excessive uric acid, possible leading to gallstones, gout, and kidney stones. This is a major concern with non-organic meats. Meat is easily contaminated by bacteria and also tocins such as herbicides, pesticides, antibiotics, various hormones, adrenalin, phenolic acid, uric acid, urea, chemicals and pestisides.
Our modern methods of meat production is designed to raise cattle, pigs, chicken and sheep in an intesive process in order to maximize profits. Farming like this is highly mechanized and animals are frequently given antibiotics and other disease fighitng medicine. This results in cheap meat but this meat tends to be deficient in nutrients and full of chemicals.
The process of rearing meat, preserving it and making it look fresh for market can produce a product that is high in chemicals, toxins and low in nutrients. When you are detoxing, it’s best to limit the consumption of meat and focus more on fruits and vegetables. When you can, buy organic meat that has been raised hormone and antibiotic free. When you are cleansing with a detoxifying diet, it makes sense to reduce and eliminate the toxins you are consuming.
